WWE is starting to spoil us New Yorkers. The company announced that SummerSlam will continue to take place in Brooklyn in 2018. It was revealed by the The New York Post that The Biggest Party of the Summer will come back to the Barclays Center.

WWE has also started planning events surrounding SummerSlam. Just like they will do for the Royal Rumble, they will hold all major events before and after the event at the Barclays Center. NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV will take place on August 18th, 2018 and the actual PPV will be the next night. Raw and SmackDown Live will take place the 20th and 21st.

Before making New York the home of SummerSlam, the event was held in Los Angeles’ Staples Center from 2009 to 2014. While ticketing information hasn’t been announced yet, WWE shouldn’t be worried. The company has had no issue selling out the Barclays Center since the event move to Brooklyn in 2015. John Saboor, WWE’s executive vice president of special events, had the following to say about the announcement:

“Our partners in New York have worked tirelessly to help create the incremental growth of SummerSlam week through the presentation of not only our ticketed and fan events at the Barclays Center, but also through the community-based events taking place in the city’s five boroughs. We are very proud of that and the work that we have done.”

It’s a brilliant move by the company that keeps on growing it’s fanbase with each SummerSlam. New York is home to some of the most passionate wrestling fans in the world, and WWE knows that. Not only will the big PPV take place in New York, but programs to benefit the community will as well. That includes hospital visits, their Be a STAR campaign and much more.

This news comes before this Sunday’s SummerSlam PPV, where WWE will once again try and “wow” the crowd with big matches. I have only one question for you Brooklyn: Are You Ready?
