WWE Hall of Famer President Donald Trump Contracts COVID-19

President Donald Trump, who is also a WWE Hall of Famer, has tested positive for COVID-19. The news of Trump’s health status broke overnight Friday, with Trump confirming on Twitter that both he and First Lady Melania Trump, who also tested positive for the virus, were expected to go into quarantine.

“Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!” he tweeted.

President Trump’s resume famously includes being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013. He was introduced by WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon, who stated during the induction ceremony that Trump was a “Wrestlemania institution.” The 45th President of the United States made several well-known WWE appearances as a rival of Vince McMahon, including one in which he faced McMahon during Wrestlemania 23 in 2007 for a “Battle of the Billionaires” match. The match stipulation was that the loser would have his head shaved bald. McMahon ended up having the “bald-headed blues,” with Trump and WWE superstar Bobby Lashley as the ones doing the shaving honors.

President Donald Trump returned to the WWE in 2009 for an appearance on WWE RAW in which he revealed that the brand was sold to him by McMahon. Of course, RAW was eventually sold back to McMahon.

McMahon’s wife Linda McMahon is also known to have been hired by Trump during his first term as the President of the United States. She became the Head of Small Business Administration in 2017 and made just as many headlines for resigning from the post in 2019. is currently no longer in that role. Linda McMahon is now Chair of the pro-Trump America First Action SuperPAC.

Wrestling Inc. reported in April that President Trump mentioned McMahon during a press conference about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on sports in America and plans to help sports leagues regain business during the health crisis. “In sports, we wanna get our sports back…we have to get our sports back. I’m tired of watching baseball games that are 14 years old….The NBA–Adam Silver, the Major League Baseball…NFL — Roger Goodell, thank you Roger. UFC– Dana White…WWE — the great Vince McMahon,” said Trump.
