Pro Wrestling WWE Mock Draft 2016 by Daniel Yanofsky July 18, 2016 This Tuesday, WWE will look to shake things up once again. The company will bring back the brand split on the premier episode of SmackDown Live. Wrestlers will be drafted to a specific show and PPV’s will become brand exclusive, just like it was in the early 2000’s. One thing that is guaranteed is that it will be a night full of surprises. Anything can happen, which makes this event must see TV. WWE.com posted the rules for the draft, with some very interesting points (hint: NXT). Raw has the first overall pick Since SmackDown Live is a two-hour show and Raw is three hours, for every two picks SmackDown Live receives, Raw will receive three picks Tag teams count as one pick unless a Commissioner/General Manager specifically only wants one member of the team Six draft picks will be made off the NXT roster Before the rules came out, Double G’s own Sarah Holzberg and I decided to conduct our own draft. With Sarah being Stephanie McMahon (Raw) and me as Shane (SmackDown), we battled it out to see who would go where. Regardless of who is drafted, it is assumed that champions will still be able to defend their titles on both brands. We also took into account the rumors that former starts could return after Tuesday. Thanks to a coin flip, SmackDown had the first pick. The draft was the best way to see who was the best fit (in our eyes) for the New Era in WWE. The results of the draft: Monday Night Raw (Sarah) Male Stars: John Cena (First Pick) No Way Jose (NXT) Brock Lesnar Kane Cody Rhodes (former talent) Dolph Ziggler Daniel Bryan (announcer) Mick Foley (announcer) Sheamus Big Show Roman Reigns Johnny Gargano (NXT) Dean Ambrose Jack Swagger Chris Jericho Triple H Carlito (former talent) Rusev Goldust The Undertaker Curtis Axel Rhyno (NXT) Zach Ryder Booker T (announcer) Goldberg (former talent) Female Stars: Naomi Paige Nikki Bella Alicia Fox Lana Eva Marie Peyton Royce (NXT) Brie Bella* (retired for now) Tamina Mick James (former talent) Tag Teams: The Usos The Wyatt Family The Dudley Boyz The Ascension The Authors of Pain (NXT) SmackDown Live (Dan) Male Stars: Kevin Owns (First Pick) Finn Balor (NXT) Seth Rollins A.J. Styles Randy Orton Cesaro The Miz Mauro Ranallo (announcer) Corey Graves (announcer) Neville John Morrison (former talent) Mark Henry Shinsuke Nakamura (NXT) Apollo Crews Alberto Del Rio Austin Aries (NXT) Shelton Benjamin (former talent) Paul Heyman (announcer/advisor) Sami Zayn Kurt Angle (former talent) Rob Van Dam (former talent) Sin Cara Bobby Roode (NXT) Kalisto Baron Corbin Tajiri (former talent and CWC competitor) The Brian Kendrick (former talent and CWC competitor) Tye Dillinger (NXT) Female Talent: Sasha Banks Bayley Charlotte Renee Young (announcer/interviewer) Maryse Summer Rae Becky Lynch Emma Natalya Nia Jax (NXT) Tag Teams: The New Day American Alpha (NXT) Enzo Amore and Big Cass The Club (Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson) The Revival (NXT) Both sides look stacked if I do say so myself. What do you think? While being as civil as possible, we both had ideas of who we wanted to represent our brand. In the end, Raw looked to continue to be the premier show, while SmackDown looked to reclaim the dominance it had in the early 2000’s. How similar will our draft be when the real thing happens Tuesday? It looks like we’ll have to tune in to The USA Network at 8pm to find out. And with the first pick in the 2016 WWE Draft, Monday Night Raw selects… Post Views: 2,110 The following two tabs change content below.BioLatest Posts Daniel Yanofsky Baseball Editor, Misc.
