Is the XFL making a comeback?

Once DOA, the XFL comeback story appears to be back on track

As we all know, Vince McMahon is one of the most polarizing figures in sports today. He did whatever it took to make WWE into the global phenomenon it is today. Not all of his ideas have turned to gold, but there was one project that caught the eyes of millions, for good and bad reasons. Now, it appears that one specific project is coming back. The XFL may be making it’s long-awaited return.

Earlier today, Alpha Entertainment, a McMahon-funded company, announced that Vince will be making an announcement at 3PM ET today.

For the past two months, it was all but confirmed the XFL was coming back. The league had it’s one and only season in 2001. Last month, WWE filed paperwork with the SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) for trademarking the XFL name. Rumors went around that with that deal, McMahon would sell approximately $100 million of WWE stock for funding along with a growing business in Alpha Entertainment.

The timing for this news could not be better. With the Super Bowl coming up on February 4th, Vince has been adamant about starting up another football program, according to Sports Illustrated. This comes after the growing controversy surround the NFL regarding the National Anthem and concussions. Unlike the leagues previous run, WWE and whatever company would broadcast the games (last time was NBC) will look to hold off and plan for a long-term solution. According to PWInsider, 2020 is when the league would relaunch.

If you have doubts regarding this rumor, it looks like Alpha Entertainment leaked the news itself:

Get ready folks, the impossible is becoming a reality. In the end, Vince McMahon always gets what he wants.
