Baseball Yankees agree to deal with New York native Adam Ottavino by Gregg Snyder January 17, 2019 The New York Yankees and right-handed relief pitcher Adam Ottavino have agreed to a three-year contract on Thursday. The deal, first reported by Jeff Passan of ESPN, is worth $27 million. Ottavino, a New York native, has spent the past seven years with the Colorado Rockies. He first broke into the league in 2010 with the St. Louis Cardinals. The 2019 Yankees bullpen is once again expected to be one of the best units in the league. Ottavino joins the likes of Dellin Betances, Zach Britton, Chad Green and Aroldis Chapman. This off-season, David Robertson signed a free agent contract with the Philadelphia Phillies. By signing Ottavino, Yankees GM Brian Cashman essentially replaces Roberton’s role. In 2018, Ottavino tied his career high for appearances at 75. He also posted a career-best 2.43 ERA. It’s been a busy off-season for the Yankees, having traded for left-handed starter James Paxton, re-signing lefties J.A. Happ and Zach Britton, and signing free-agent infielders Troy Tulowitzki and DJ LeMahieu. With the addition of Ottavino, it seems as if the Yankees roster could be complete for the 2019 season.
