Baseball Yankees win, stay atop the American League East The win for the Yankees snaps a three game skid. by Staff Post June 15, 2015 Getty Images After two nights of being humiliated by Baltimore Orioles’ hitters and their own sloppy play, the New York Yankees salvaged the final game of a three game set in Baltimore 5-3. The Yankees had an opportunity to witness their new late-game bullpen. The Yankees after pulling starter Adam Warren after just 4 2/3 innings, giving up three runs and six hits, before giving way to the bullpen. It snapped a string of five straight quality starts by the right-hander. Yankees’ reliever Chasen Shreve replaced Warren and earned the victory after throwing 1.1 innings of scoreless relief, Justin Wilson pitched a scoreless seventh and eighth and Dellin Betances picked up his third save of the year, replacing the injured Andrew Miller in the ninth. With the victory comes a huge shot of confidence for the Yankees as they begin to see that life without Miller might not be as bad as it seems. In the win, Yankee catcher John Ryan Murphy, who was in for Brian McCann who had the day off, was 3-4 with a go ahead two-run double in the fifth. Murphy’s two out hit was just out of the reach of Manny Machado’s outstretched glove at third and down the left field line. The win for the Yankees snaps a three game skid, and keeps the Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays tied atop the AL East. The Yankees will go to Masahiro Tanaka today as they begin a four-game home and home set with Giancarlo Stanton and the Miami Marlins. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm.
