The New York Riveters announced on Thursday that they have re-signed forward Bray Ketchum for the 2017-2018 National Women’s Hockey League season.

The Greenwich, Connecticut native, an original Riveter, has scored 12 goals and eight assists in 35 games in a Rosie the Riveter jersey. Prior to time at Aviator Arena in Brooklyn, New York and RWJ Barnabas Health Hockey House in Newark, New Jersey she played three seasons for the Boston Blade of the Canadian Women’s Hockey League.

Ketchum helped the Blades win the Clarkson Cup in the 2014-2015 season. She played in 117 games at Yale University, putting up 41 goals and 43 assists, while majoring in American Studies.

She said, “Yale was a great experience, both academically and athletically.”

She remains involved with the university as a board member of the Yale Hockey Association, as well as the Mandi Schwartz Foundation, in honor of her teammate.

Before skating for the Yale Bulldogs, she played for the Greenwich Skating Club, Connecticut Stars as well as her high school team.

Ketchum added, “It is a privilege to be a part of this league and I am ready to bring the Isobel Cup to New Jersey. Our team proved a lot last season and I know we can do more this year.”

She went on to say, “I hope for all of our young fans out there that this league will continue to be successful. We have a strong following and I think the product is unmatched. There is a lot of passion in this league. It has been wonderful to be a part of from the beginning, and I can only hope that the future is even brighter.”

While playing for the Riveters this season, Ketchum will also continue to work for her brother’s plant-based sports nutrition company, Upwild. The company’s first product is a plant-based protein shake.

Ketchum said, “Hopefully, one day we will be fueling all of the NWHL teams.

The new season is set to begin in October with the full slate of home games for all four teams. The Riveters, Boston Pride and Connecticut Whale will also play two games each against Team Russia in the NWHL/Team Russia Summit Series in October as well.

The league also recently announced a partnership with Twitter to live stream games over the social media platform in efforts to market the game even further.

The NWHL also announced that at least eight players, from the Whale and Riveters as well as league commissioner, Dani Rylan, will join representatives from; You Can Play, the National Hockey League, Women’s National Basketball Association and Major League Soccer at New York City’s Pride March on June 25.
