Islanders fans will get the chance to see their team back in Uniondale, if only just for one day, and if only an exhibition game. The last time the Islanders played at the Old Barn, April 25, 2015, it was game six of the first round against the Washington Capitals in the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs in front of a maximum capacity crowd of 16,170 fans. Isles were down 3-2 in the series facing elimination but won by a score of 3-1 to force game seven in Washington. Despite being  eliminated in game seven, the Isles were able to go out on a high note.

The announcement comes about a month after the team announced a preseason matchup against cross-town rivals, the New York Rangers. That exhibition game will take place on September 22 at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport where the Isles’ AHL-affiliate Sound Tigers call home. A full preseason schedule for the Islanders has yet to be released.
