Jeurys Familia (MiLB.com) The Mets are in need of some bullpen help, and it looks like the cavalry is one step closer to arriving. Closer Jeurys Familia will continue his rise through the minors when he plays for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies tonight. The game will be against the Portland Sea Dogs at the NYSEG Stadium. Game time is at 6:35pm. In a press release, the minor league affiliate of the Mets stated Familia would be available at any time throughout the game. He previously pitched for the St. Lucie Mets this past Saturday. His only appearance in the Binghamton system was in 2011 as a starting pitcher. Jeurys Familia was suspended 15 games due to a domestic violence incident this past October. This will be an interesting test for Familia before he is activated by the Mets on Thursday. It won’t be the only test he faces though. According to MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo, manager Terry Collins has considered putting him in the game earlier to get him adjusted. Addison Reed would continue closing duties for the Mets during that time. When Familia returns, it will be interesting to see how the crowd reacts. Just like they did with Jose Reyes, fans might be split on welcoming him back. The one thing they can agree on is that he will provide a big boost to the bullpen. Interested in seeing Familia pitch? Tickets for today’s game can be purchased at any time at the Rumble Ponies’ website (www.bingrp.com). Fans can also call (607) 722-FUNN to purchase tickets.
