New Mets Pitcher Trevor May Hates The Yankees

Recently, on Twitch, New York Mets newcomer Trevor May was fielding questions from fans during an impromptu ask me anything. That is something that May does on livestreams for his followers on a regular basis. This session, however, did bring up one juicy nugget. When asked if he dislikes the Yankees now that he plays for their crosstown rival, the 6’5” right-hander had this to say:

“Bro, I was on the Twins,” said May, exasperated at the suggestion that he didn’t already hate the Yankees with every fiber of his being. “Now? What do you mean? I grew up a Mariners fan.”

The Yankees were a frequent thorn in May’s side, defeating Seattle in the playoffs on two occasions (2000 and 2001), though the Mariners did get the better of New York in the 1995 ALDS.  His six-year stint with the Twins, a team the Yankees have tormented to no end, surely rekindled that hatred. Minnesota’s record against New York the last 13 times they’ve met in the postseason is 0-13.

The veteran reliever may technically be a New Yorker now, but don’t expect him to make nice with the Mets’ American League counterpart, now or ever and that is exactly what Mets fans want.
