The 2017 National Women’s Hockey League Awards will be announced on March 14 at 12:30 PM through social media.

Fans can follow along using the hashtag; #NWHLAwards across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. The league as well as team accounts will feature behind the scenes footage and announcements of the awards.

This season’s awards will include the NWHL Fans’ Three Stars of the Season. A new award for the second season of the league, allowing the fans to vote on their nominees for their favorite players from the 2016-2017 season. Fans can make their choices at www.nwhl.zone.

The regular season champions will be presented to the team with the best record during the regular season. The scoring trophy will go to the player who put up the most points over the season.

The NWHL Foundation Award is awarded to the player that most actively applies the core values of hockey to her community as well as help to grow the game. The four general managers will select the winner of the award.

The Most Valuable Player, selected by the NWHL Players’ Association, will be the player voted as most valuable to her team. The NWHLPA will also choose the Denna Laing Award. The player who best represents the qualities of sportsmanship, perseverance and dedication to her sport, will become the recipient of the Denna Laing Award.

The NWHL broadcasters and sportswriters will select the Best Defender and the Best Goaltender to the top player at each position during the 2016-2017 NWHL season.

For the new fans’ three stars vote, the fans can vote for the three players they feel deserve the award until March 13 at 12:00 PM. Whether they admire the player for their work ethic, leadership or the way they communicate with the fans through social media and fan events, is up to how the fans may decide to make their choices.

The voting is currently open now and will continue through noon on the Monday following the regular season, March 13. The results will be announced during the 2017 NWHL Awards on March 14. Fans can follow the awards ceremony across the league’s three social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram & Facebook).
