527teasleyblogsBridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots (23-13) defeated the Bridgeport Bluefish (19-17) 5-1 at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday evening.

Behind Rick Teasley’s (3-0) 7.1 scoreless innings of work, the Patriots shut down the Bluefish to take their second straight game over their division rivals.

“I’m happy to go that deep for our bullpen and our team,” said Teasley. “I just let them put the ball in play and our guys were making plays for me. I had good fastball command on the inside half to righties a lot and we just kept working with it.”

The Patriots offense was led by Aharon Eggleston and Olmo Rosario, who combined to drive in all five of Somerset’s runs.

The Patriots broke the scoreless tie in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Eggleston and an RBI single by Rosario for the 2-0 lead.

Rosario struck again with two more runs on an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning for a 4-0 advantage. Rosario would finish the game 3-for-4 with three RBI.

“I always try to have good at bats and take good swings. When your mechanics are right, that is what is supposed to happen,” said Rosario.

The Patriots extended the lead on Eggleston’s second RBI of the game in the seventh inning.

The Bluefish got on the board with a run in the ninth inning on an RBI single by Jonathan Galvez for the 5-1 final.

Rainy Lara (3-1) suffered the loss, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits in five innings pitched.

The 2017 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Sunday afternoon with a 1:05 pm game against the Bridgeport Bluefish. The game features Jimmy Buffett Day, Autographs, and Run The Bases.  For tickets, visit www.somersetpatriots.com.
