Mets Anthem Search (Mets Twitter) You may not be the next American Idol, but you can still try out to sing in front of thousands of people. The New York Mets announced that they will have auditions for the annual Anthem Search on Tuesday, March 14 at 10am. The winner will sing the National Anthem on Thursday, August 17 during a Subway Series game against the Yankees. Fans interested must arrive at Citi Field and go to the Hodges VIP Gate. The audition will take place inside the team’s press conference room. The first 100 contestants to arrive at Citi Field will receive a guaranteed audition. Those trying out can sing any song of their choice (excluding the National Anthem) by way of a cappella. They will be performing for judges that include Q104.3’s Ken Dashow, PIX11 Morning News’ Scott Stanford and Sukanya Krishnan and Broadway’s Rachel Bay Jones. To make things entertaining, the team announced that instrumental performances are allowed. Performers 18 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Go to mets.com/AnthemSearch for more information, or call (718) 559-3115. Good luck to all of you out there.
