He is the latest Boulder to get his contract purchased by a major league team. Since he did not participate in Spring Training, the 28-year-old will be assigned to the Marlins extending spring team in Jupiter, Florida. According to the Boulders, he will then head over to their High A team, the Jupiter Hammerheads. Arrojo spent three seasons with the Boulders. In his Boulder career, he hit 11 homers and 111 RBI. Last season, he set the team’s record for highest single-season batting average (.341), stolen bases (47), and on base percentage (.483). He became a fan favorite at the ballpark, with his smooth defensive plays and smart high quality at bats. Arrojo, who is a Miami native, began his professional career back in 2011. Over the past seven-years, he’s played for various independent league teams. He is now the 14th Boulder to sign with a major league organization. In late August, former Boulder, Stephen Cardullo got called up by the Rockies. This spring, Cardullo wowed the team and fans earning a spot on the Rockies roster. While he is not an everyday starter, the utility player switches between first base and the corner outfield positions. As for the Boulders, they’re opening day is on May 18. They’ll host the Sussex County Miners at 7:00 PM.
