“Hey, JOAN, so when are the Jets relaunching the upgraded version of their amazing, interactive app?”

“Hi Jackie, the Jets will release their newest version of the application in early September! If you already have the app it will update automatically, if not, please make sure to download as soon as possible!”

What’s that you may ask? JOAN, or in other words the Jets Official Answer Network, is one of the newest additions to the upgraded app that we will soon all be perusing through. It is the “team’s new artificial intelligence chatbot service, which allows fans to ask frequently-asked questions using natural language and receive instant answers.” Guys, please know that I just made up that quick conversation between myself and JOAN, we will all have to wait to see how she will answer us in real time! You need to know the nearest restroom or food and beverage area? I think JOAN can help you with that!

The app is very popular and certainly contains a plethora of interactive, statistical, and augmented reality for game time. The game day utility, ticketing interface, and Uber integration will make before, during, and post-game navigation as seamless as possible. After a stoppage of play, want to know how fast the ball was just run down the field? No worries, Next Gen Stats has got you covered.

We all have to understand that in today’s world, whether you like it or not, digital access at our fingertips 24/7 is just the standard. But how do we use the app and take in the live action of the game?! Decisions, decisions! Nine-year NFL veteran safety Erik Coleman, who was drafted by the Jets, gave me some first-hand perspective on how to handle this.

“I mean the average football play only lasts about 7-8 seconds, and then you have about 35-40 seconds in between each play. With the short attention span people have nowadays, they will have something to do in between the plays. They can look at the stats, see how fast the quarterback threw the ball, how quick the running back ran through the hole. I think it will make it more enjoyable!”

The app has been exponentially expanding and with that, yesterday August 15, 2017, the New York Jets launched JETS 360 Productions – “which was created to give Jets fans an all-access pass to unique, engaging, quality content over a variety of platforms.” There is The Official Jets Podcast Network, there is Jets Pregame and Jets Late Night shows on CBS2 and SNY Networks, there are stories, stylized pictures and videos, as well as behind the scenes footage. Let me just say, these stories will give you all the feels, even if you’re not an emotional sports person (I’m pretty sure you are though, so you will love this).

Let’s be honest with ourselves. We all love the live football, we all love the videos, interactive app, and stadium experience that MetLife Stadium offers us at a Jets home game. But the New York Jets stand by the principle that “Calories don’t count on Sundays”. What does that mean?! That means that when you head to MetLife for a NYJ game, you will receive generous portions of creatively crafted culinary offerings, with a ton of new additions to the menu this season, and you will not leave hungry. The stadium is just outside of NYC, and NYC is known for all its amazing food. Now on Sundays you don’t need to leave the stadium to get all that amazing food! Some new offerings include sushi and poke bowls, Grater Mac Shop, Global pies (yummy dessert), a pulled pork platter, and much more. Of course, you can still get your simple stadium staples like hot dogs, pretzels, popcorn, and beer. These offerings can come with special discounts for season ticket holders!

We must not forget about the predicted fan favorite, however. This is the Fat Rooster sandwich: buttermilk and hot sauce brine chicken breast with house made sweet pickles, apple cider slaw, and drizzled with honey aioli. Delish!

Switching gears a bit away from food gives us an introduction this season that the Jets office is especially excited about. This is the New York Jets Fan Hall of Fame, which is “designed to celebrate the ultimate Jets fans”. Voting is on newyorkjets.com and you can nominate yourself or a friend by submitting a quick written blurb and a photograph. After a voting period with fans, Jets Legends, and Jets personnel, three fans will be inducted and honored on the field during halftime of the final home game of the 2017 season. What an ultimate fan experience!

All throughout the stadium there is something for Jets fans of every age. Great new food: check! A Jets interactive experience with exhibits, displays, history, and photo-ops: check! Gen Jets kids zone featuring inflatables, a DJ, sidewalk chalk, and an expanded sports zone: check! Theme games this season: check! Jets Reward points: check! A fantastic new app: check! And more: check!

“I think when you have 80,000 people come out you want to have something for everyone,” Jets President Neil Glat mentioned to me yesterday at the Jets Upfront event at MetLife where all these new additions to gameday were unveiled.

I am pretty confident they have more than enough for everyone who comes out for a New York Jets Sunday Funday this fall.

Are you ready for some football?!
