The Connecticut Whale announced on Tuesday that they have re-signed Jordan Brickner for the 2017-2018 National Women’s Hockey League season.

The 26-year-old defender will be returning to the Whale for her third season in Connecticut. She said, “The Whale moving back to Stamford is a great decision, and I hope we will see many fans from the inaugural season. It is exciting to see all the players signing with the Whale. I went to high school with Stephanie Mock, so I am thrilled to play on the same team with her again.”

Brickner played two seasons at Colgate University before transferring to the University of Wisconsin for her final two collegiate seasons. Prior to joining the NWHL, in 2015, the five-foot-eight defenseman played in Austria and Switzerland.

In 32 games over the past two seasons in the NWHL, Brickner put up one goal and 15 assists, while helping to protect the blueline for the Whale. She said, “I have really enjoyed being able to continue my hockey career in the NWHL. I have met some great friends and have been able to reconnect with old friends and teammates. I am fortunate to be able to continue to play the game I love so much.”

Brickner just recently rescued a pair of Cairn Terriers, that she named Murphy and Penny. She added, “I love animals so much.”

The Whale will begin season three of the NWHL in October, as they will play the full slate of home games at their new barn, Terry Connor Rink, in Stamford, Connecticut. Along with the New York Riveters and Boston Pride, the three teams will have two games each against the Russian National Team in the NWHL/Team Russia Summit Series, this fall as well.
