Matt Reynolds – New York Mets (MLB.com)

A depleted Mets roster will have some backup tonight. According to MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo, infielder Matt Reynolds will be joining the team from Triple-A Las Vegas. As a corresponding move, the team will option pitcher Sean Gilmartin to Las Vegas.

Considered a valuable member of the team, Matt Reynolds was proving his worth in Vegas this year. He was hitting .300 (15-50) with three doubles, four RBI, 10 runs scored and a .364 on-base percentage in 13 games. It is not guaranteed he will get a lot of playing time, as he is an extra infield option after Lucas Duda and Wilmer Flores both went down with injuries. Whenever he does play, Reynolds will look to hold down the defense for the Mets.

The 26-year old will wear number 15 for the team.

Gilmartin only appeared in one outing for the Mets this season after being brought up a few weeks ago. He didn’t allow a run in 0.2 innings against the Phillies on April 18. With Jeurys Familia back with the team, Gilmartin was the easy choice to be sent down.

Matt Reynolds is a fresh face that was needed for the Mets. Lets see how the young stud does during his latest stint with the team.
