Hockey NWHL Adds King-Devick Testing to League’s Concussion Protocol Process by Chip Gianni December 6, 2017 The National Women’s Hockey League announced on Tuesday that they have partnered with King-Devick Test to aid in the examination of their concussion protocol process during games. The K-D Testing, which is run in association with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota utilizes integrated technology that will help the league in managing concussions suffered by the players. The NWHL joins other leagues and sports organizations throughout the world, such as the National Hockey League, Canadian Football League, Major League Lacrosse, Rugby Football Union and England Cricket, which utilize K-D Testing Methods. A statement put out by the league said, “The NWHL is committed to further develop its medical policies and preventative resources for its players. As a reflection of that commitment, the league has implemented K-D Testing into our protocols this season.” The testing gives coaches, trainers, medical personnel and even trained parents, the ability to accurately and objectively remove from play and administer the concussion screening.
