Taylor Beck (Photo courtesy of Bakersfield Condors) New York Rangers General Manager Jeff Gorton has called up AHL All-Star forward Taylor Beck from the Hartford Wolf Pack. The Rangers acquired Beck in a trade with Edmonton just last month on March 1 in hopes that the young skater could provide a little extra push for the end of the season and into playoff hockey. Beck has played in 54 games between the Wolf Pack and Bakersfield Condors this season and produced an impressive 19 goals and 44 assists for a total of 63 points. This season Beck has established career highs in goals, points, and assists, now sitting at second overall in points in the AHL and third in assists league-wide. He has at least 10 goals in each of his last five full seasons and at least 40 points in the last three. At 25 years old, this kind of consistency thus far is certainly promising. Beck also has his share of NHL experience to stand on. Between Nashville (who drafted him), NY Islanders, and Edmonton, he has skated in 90 NHL games registering 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points. Most of experience comes from the Predators, as he played sixty-two games for them in the 15’-16’ season and put up eight goals and eight assists. This past season didn’t amount to much as the Oilers only used Beck in three games that amounted to nothing but four penalty minutes. In his AHL career, Taylor Beck has averaged a point in 77% of games played and sits at a plus 12 rating on the ice. At 6-2 and 203lbs he has the NHL size and hopefully with a little more ice time, the young prospect can provide that extra push for the Blueshirts throughout these playoffs and continued consistency in the time to come.
