Bridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots have announced the signing of infielder Mark Minicozzi. Minicozzi will begin his first season in Somerset and third stint in the Atlantic League, after playing four games with the Camden Riversharks in 2010 and 21 games with the Long Island Ducks in 2016. In his 21 games with the Ducks last season, Minicozzi had a .356 average with 15 runs, 26 hits, four home runs and 15 RBI. Originally drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 17th round of the 2005 Major League Baseball Draft, the Wayne, Pennsylvania native worked his way through the Giants organization for three seasons. Minicozzi has two season of Triple-A service, first in 2014 with the Giants and again in 2015 with the Washington Nationals organization. Over his 11-year career, which includes playing professionally in the United States, Canada, Venezuela, and Nicaragua, Minicozzi owns a .289 batting average with 103 home runs, 632 RBI, and 217 doubles in 1,114 games played. Minicozzi is expected to join the team and be activated for this week’s series against the Lancaster Barnstormers.
