It was founded, so there can be more coverage for women in sports. According to a UNESCO report, they state, “statistics claim that 40% of all sports participants are women, yet women’s sports receive only around 4% of all sports media coverage.” This statistic was surprising to these Olympians because they all are great athletes. They all won gold medals and have received plenty of media coverage. The group created this company to give sports media coverage to more female athletes and change this statistic. On their website, it says, “TOGETHXR is where culture, activism, lifestyle, and sports converge. We shatter the often narrow depictions of women in the media with content featuring a diverse and inclusive community of game-changers, culture-shapers, thought leaders, and barrier breakers.” TOGETHXR Changing Sports Media Sports are male dominant. They often get most of the media coverage. More people view men’s sports more than women’s sports. TOGETHXR will change this and make sports coverage more equal for women. Female athletes work just as hard as male athletes and they deserve more coverage in sports media.
