Baseball Mets trade for OF Keon Broxton by Daniel Yanofsky January 6, 2019 Looking for some more outfield depth, the Mets made a trade for Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Keon Broxton. In exchange, the Brewers received RHP’s Bobby Wahl and Adam Hill, along with infielder Felix Valerio. Already picking up Rajai Davis, the Mets added a defensive wizard in Broxton. Since 2016, the 28-year-old has 13 defensive runs saved, according to Fangraphs. That was 14th among all major league center fielders. Offensively, Broxton is a career .221 hitter with 33 home runs and 155 hits in 276 games. This past season was an injury-filled one, as he only appeared in 51 games, batting .179. Broxton has only played in over 100 games once, back in 2017. “Keon is a dynamic athlete with the ability to impact the game in the outfield, on the bases and with his bat,” GM Brodie Van Wagenen said. “He adds depth to our major league roster for 2019 and into the future.” In Wahl, the Mets gave up a reliever they received from the Oakland A’s in exchange for Jeurys Familia. In seven outings this year, Wahl went 0-1 with a 10.13 ERA. Hill, 21, went 1-1 with a 2.35 ERA in nine games for the Brooklyn Cyclones. One of the top players in the deal, Hill was the Mets’ fourth-round pick in 2018. Valerio batted .319 with three home runs and 22 RBIs in 67 games at the Dominican Summer League.
