Bluefish Complete Sweep Of Day-Night Double Header

913thomaswebBridgeport, CT – The Bridgeport Bluefish (34-31, 64-71) scored 10 unanswered runs from the fourth inning on to defeat the Somerset Patriots (36-29, 74-61) 10-3 Tuesday evening at Harbor Yard. The Bluefish completed the sweep of the day-night doubleheader as the homestanding squad won game one 6-4.

 

“Obviously it was a tough day at the office, but at the end of the day we get to play baseball,” said Eric Farris who finished with three hits. “We’ll come back tomorrow and give our best effort then move on to New Britain for this stretch run.

 

David Vidal clubbed his Atlantic League leading 25th home run in the top of the first inning as his two-run blast gave Somerset a 2-0 lead.

 

The Patriots added a run via a fielding error in the third inning to increase their lead to 3-0.

 

Bridgeport chipped away as they plated two in the fourth inning on an RBI grounder by Geraldo Valentin and an RBI single by Jose Cuevas.

 

The Fish tied the score at 3-3 in the third inning via an RBI sacrifice fly by Welington Dotel in the 5th inning.

 

In the sixth inning the Bluefish scored six runs on seven hits. The inning was highlighted by run scoring hits from Luis Rodriguez, Angelys Nina, and Jose Gil.

 

Dotel capped the scoring with a solo home run (6) in the eighth inning.

 

Jonathan Albaladejo (14-6) earned the win tossing seven innings while allowing three runs. Mickey Storey (1-9) suffered the loss, surrendering four runs in 0.2 innings.
