Just over a week after Alexander Ovechkin recorded his 1,000th NHL point, on Friday, Henrik Sedin cashed in on the milestone in his 1,213th NHL game.

After receiving a pass from his brother Daniel, Henrik deked on former Canucks’ netminder Roberto Luongo, beating him on the backhand. The moment couldn’t have been any more perfect – a pass from Daniel, a shot against a long-time former teammate, and a goal for point 1,000.

After Henrik scored, the entire Canucks bench emptied to congratulate their captain in the corner. “Bobby Lou” even congratulated Henrik on the accomplishment as he started making his way back to the bench to watch a wonderful tribute on the jumbotron. The Canucks defeated the Panthers 2-1.

On Sunday, Henrik Sedin picked up an assist on the power play for point 1,001 in a 4-2 loss against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Henrik Sedin has played his entire 16-season NHL career with the Vancouver Canucks alongside his brother Daniel. Henrik was drafted third-overall in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. He is a three-time All-Star. Henrik received the King Clancy Memorial Trophy last season for his leadership and humanitarian efforts. For the 2009-10 season, Henrik received the Art Ross Trophy (most regular season points with 112) and the Hart Memorial Trophy (league MVP).

Henrik’s brother Daniel is just 32 points away from 1,000 points. Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins is just eight points out from the milestone. At the pace Crosby is scoring, he could easily hit the milestone by Valentine’s Day, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

Congratulations, Henrik!
