This past weekend was a great day for baseball, right?  Unless, of course, you are a fan of the New York Mets and you were cringing at the double-digit score on the part of the Washington Nationals.  Then you might prefer to simply forget last weekend.  Only, if you were in Southern Nevada, and watching the Las Vegas 51s ( AAA affiliate of the NY Mets ) while you were paying attention to the New York Mets, you might have felt some relief when the 51s came out on top and did not blow a lead in the top of the ninth.

With so much going on this past weekend in sports, including the NBA and NHL playoffs, not to mention the NFL Draft, it was a busy weekend.  Only there were several in attendance on Sunday.  To be exact, according to the Las Vegas 51s official stats, there were “7500 earthlings and 131 canines” in attendance for Sunday’s game.   It was a great day for baseball, and many brought their dogs for the ‘Bark in the Park’ celebration.

The LV 51s won the game by a score of 2-1 and went on to beat Albuquerque again last night, by a score of 7-6.  In that game, L.J. Mazzilli had three hits and proved he continues to be one to watch.  For more on the team’s performance, and a look at some of the canine shots, check out the team’s Twitter page @LasVegas51s
