Hockey Metropolitan Riveters to be First Visitors of NWHL Expansion Minnesota Whitecaps by Chip Gianni June 28, 2018 Photo Credit: Matthew Raney Photography The National Women’s Hockey League announced on Wednesday that the newest club, the Minnesota Whitecaps will play their home games at TRIA Rink in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Whitecaps will open the 2018-2019 NWHL season at home against the defending Isobel Cup Champions, Metropolitan Riveters, with a pair of games on October 6 and October 7. TRIA Rink is the new state of the art practice facility of the National Hockey League’s, Minnesota Wild. Riveters Stars Amanda Kessel and Katie Fitzgerald played collegiately in Minnesota The Riveters will be led by 2018 Team USA gold medalist and University of Minnesota star, Amanda Kessel and St. Cloud State netminder and Isobel Cup Playoffs Most Valuable Player, Katie Fitzgerald during season four of the NWHL. The Whitecaps currently have USA gold medalists, Lee Stecklein and Hannah Brandt as well as the reigning Goaltender of the Year, Amanda Leveille. Riveters Head to St Paul After Sweden Trip The Riveters will head to the Twin Cities, in their only trip to Minnesota, right after returning from their journey to Sweden and the 2018 Champions Cup. During that tournament, the NWHL Champs will take on the SDHL Champion, Lulea Hockey Club at Norrbotten Arena in Lulea, Sweden. The Whitecaps and the NWHL also announced that season tickets for the team’s eight regular season home games will be 150 dollars for general admission seating and 250 dollars for the premiere package that guarantees center ice seats for all home games. The Riveters as well as the rest of the leagues ticket prices will be announced later this summer.
