With 2016 in the rearview mirror, the 2017 season preparation has already begun.

After being touted one of the worst divisions in football after years of success, the NFC East has returned to prominence with the Dallas Cowboys reigning supreme and the Giants, Redskins and Eagles providing a nice challenge.

It is time to look towards free agency and what each team can do to bolster their rosters before the NFL Draft and hope to make a deep run in next years postseason.

Lets take a look at each team’s biggest needs and potential targets:

Philadelphia Eagles

Biggest needs: WR, CB, RB, OT

While some of these needs can be also filled out during the draft, the Eagles desperately need help at the receiver and corner positions. Look for the biggest free agency signings for Philadelphia to be at WR. Philadelphia could also sign a corner or some linemen in free agency, but it will all depend on how much cap space they can clear up.

Potential targets:
Alshon Jeffrey (WR)
DeSean Jackson (WR)
Kenny Stills (WR)
Kenny Britt (WR)
Pierre Garcon (WR)
Torrey Smith (WR)
Brian Quick (WR)
Terrelle Pryor (WR)

Yes, this is just how bad the Eagles need a wide receiver for Carson Wentz.

Dre Kirkpatrick (CB)
A.J. Bouye (CB)
Andre Branch (DE)

New York Giants

Biggest needs: OT, WR, LB

The Giants recently released Victor Cruz, Rashad Jennings and Larry Donnell. The offense is looking to get younger and healthier. What do they do at running back? They currently have Paul Perkins, but he is still young and raw. Adrian Peterson could be on the market and he has seemed to show interest in the Giants via Twitter. The G Men could also use offensive line help since Ereck Flowers has been anything but spectacular.

Potential targets:
Eddie Lacy (RB)
Adrian Peterson (RB)
Martellus Bennett (TE) – Barring he doesn’t receive the franchise tag from New England
Melvin Ingram (OLB)
Brandon Albert (OT) – Likely via trade since the Miami feels he has value
Terrelle Pryor (WR)

Dallas Cowboys

Biggest needs: WR, backup QB, DE, DB

So what do the reigning division champs do? Well, find one or two more pieces and compete for the Super Bowl. The Cowboys have talent across the board, but the defense still needs some sharpening to be dangerous.

Potential targets:
Quintin Demps (S)
DeMarcus Ware (DE/OLB) – Reunion in big D anyone?
Brian Hoyer (QB) – With Romo on his way out and Sanchez being a nightmare, the Cowboys need a solid backup behind Dak Prescott

Washington Redskins

Biggest needs: QB, RB, DL, OLB

The Redskins need a quarterback named Kirk Cousins. He is the best option for the tea,, otherwise they will be starting from scratch. He will cost money but I believe he has proven enough to warrant a contract to stay with the team long term. If not, Cousins could be headed for San Francisco to team up with former offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan.

Potential targets:
Kirk Cousins (QB) – obviously
Dontari Poe (DL)
Calais Campbell (OLB)
Kenny Britt (WR)
Eddie Lacy (RB)
