NWHL Playoff Matchups Set

With the National Women’s Hockey League reaching the end of the regular season on Sunday February 28, the matchups for playoffs are set and slated to begin a best of three series on Friday, March 4.

The top seed Boston Pride will be hosting the New York Riveters at the Raymond Bourque Arena in Beverly, Massachusetts. The puck will drop on the action on Friday night, March 4 at 7:00 PM. Game two of the New York and Boston battle will Saturday night March 5, with the faceoff time still to be determined. If necessary, the rubber game of the matchup will take place on March 6 at 7:00 PM.

The Connecticut Whale as the second seed will serve as the host team in their matchup with the Buffalo Beauts at Chelsea Piers in Stamford, Connecticut. A 7:10 start for the opening game of the matchup with the Whale and Beauts is slated for March 4 and game two will face off at 7:30 PM on Saturday night. If the two teams split the first two games, game three will be played on Sunday March 6 at 6:00 PM.

The winners will then head to the 2016 Isobel Cup Finals which will take place at the Amerihealth Pavilion in Newark, New Jersey.

The opening game for the inaugural Isobel Cup will face off at 7:30 PM on March 11 with game two dropping the puck at 7:30 PM on Saturday March 12. The rubber game for the best of three championship series will take place on Sunday March 13 at 1:30 PM.

This past Sunday the Riveters travelled up to Buffalo to battle the Beauts in the battle for third place while the Whale hosted the Pride in the battle for first. The Whale dropped a heart breaking 5-3 decision to the Pride, while the Beauts defeated the Riveters by a score of 5-1.

The Whale will close out the 2016 regular season as they welcome the Riveters to Stamford, Connecticut in a final tune up for the post season.
