Hockey NWHL Announces Playoff Schedule, Draft & Awards Ceremony by Chip Gianni February 19, 2016 Photo courtesy of the NWHL As the National Women’s Hockey League is winding down on its final two weeks of its inaugural season, they have announced the dates for its awards ceremony, free agency, draft and post season games. The semi-finals for the Isobel Cup Playoffs will take place from March 4-6 with the top two seeds, the Connecticut Whale and Boston Pride hosting a best of three series. As the seedings are still being determined, the New York Riveters and Buffalo Beauts await which team will head to Chelsea Piers in Stamford, Connecticut and who will head to Raymond Bourque Arena in Beverly, Massachusetts. The 2016 Isobel Cup Finals will take place at the practice facility of the New Jersey Devils, the Amerihealth Pavilion, in Newark, New Jersey from March 11 through March 13. The finals will also be a best of three series. The awards ceremony will take place on Sunday March 20 at the Whittmore Center on the campus of the University of New Hampshire. Fans can follow the ceremony on social media using the hashtag #NWHLAwards. Awards will be presented to the Regular Season Champions, Best Defenseman, Best Goaltender, Most Valuable Player, Leading Scorer as well as the Perseverance Award and NWHL Foundation Award. Free Agency is set to begin on May 1, running through July 31 with the 2016 Junior Draft slated for Saturday June 18.
