Baseball Patriots Sweep Riversharks With 8-2 Win by Somerset Patriots July 23, 2015 Camden, NJ – The Somerset Patriots (10-5, 60-25) completed the four game sweep over the Camden Riversharks (3-12, 31-54) by winning 8-2 Thursday afternoon at Campbell’s Field. This was the Patriots sixth win in a row. With the victory the Patriots claimed the 2015 Turnpike Cup as they clinched the season series with a 13-4 head-to-head record. In the top of the first inning the Patriots scored three times to grab a 3-0 lead. First baseman David Vidal roped a two RBI double while shortstop Robert Andino sliced a RBI single. Shortstop Michael Rockett slapped a RBI single getting the Riversharks on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning making the score 3-1. The Patriots scored three more times in the top of the fifth inning to take a 6-1 advantage. Vidal ripped a RBI double while third baseman Greg Hopkins poked a two RBI single. Vidal recorded a RBI ground out in the top of the sixth inning as the Patriots increased their lead to 7-1. Camden plated a run in the bottom of the seventh inning as right fielder Daniel Rockett slapped a RBI single making the contest 7-2. Catcher Adam Donachie recorded a RBI ground out in the top of the eighth inning as the Patriots stretched their lead to 8-2. Sean Bierman earned the win (9-2) tossing seven innings while scattering two runs. Steve Garrison sustained the loss (2-4) lasting 4.1 innings while allowing six runs. The 2015 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue tomorrow night when the Somerset Patriots return to TD Bank Ballpark for a 7:05 p.m. game against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.
