He has had himself quite the season for the Lakewood BlueClaws and has been an exciting player for the Philadelphia Phillies organization to watch. The 18-year-old is currently boasting a 2.88 ERA in single-A and is attracting scouts from all over the country. What makes Sixto such an interesting prospect is his fastball. The starter has been timed throwing over 100 mph and some scouts have gone as far as saying that he has the best fastball in all of minor league baseball. While this is certainly exciting, it would be in fans best interest to not get too excited too soon. While Sixto certainly boasts ace potential, he is still young and anything could happen that could push him off course. While this is the case with any athlete, someone who throws the ball as hard as Sixto does is more susceptible to injuries. While Sixto has an incredible fastball, he needs to work on his secondary pitches. His off-speed pitches certainly need to get better, but that is common in young pitchers. The hope is that the staff around him can coach him up and develop a complete arsenal for him to use as he progresses through the Phillies system. As it stands right now, Sixto is the prospect with the highest upside in the Phillies system. He truly has ace potential and if everything falls right could be a dominant presence in the majors. However, with so much time between him and the show, it seems prudent to not get too excited about the possibilities. Make sure you keep him on your radar in the coming years as he attempts to become the organizations next great homegrown pitcher.
