Baseball Skeeters Power Past Patriots 9-2 by Somerset Patriots August 25, 2015 Bridgewater, NJ – The Sugar Land Skeeters (20-25, 56-59) defeated the Somerset Patriots (24-21, 74-41) 9-2 Tuesday evening at TD Bank Ballpark. All nine Sugar Land runs occurred with two outs. In the top of the first inning catcher Chris Wallace drilled a two run home run (15) to give Sugar Land a 2-0 advantage. Catcher Adam Donachie pounded a game tying two RBI double in the bottom of the third inning to even the score at 2-2. The Skeeters scored four runs in the top of the fourth inning to grab a 6-2 lead. Second baseman Jeff Dominguez ripped a RBI single, pitcher Lucas Irvine hurled a wild pitch to plate a run, and first baseman Travis Scott crushed a two run home run (5). Sugar Land scratched across three more runs in the top of the ninth inning to expand its lead to 9-2. Wallace, left fielder Johan Limonta and right fielder Kevin Russo all tallied RBI doubles. Roy Merritt earned the win (7-5) tossing six innings while scattering two runs on four hits. Irvine suffered his third straight loss (6-8) lasting six innings while giving up six runs on nine hits. The 2015 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue tomorrow night when the Somerset Patriots remain at TD Bank Ballpark for a 7:05 p.m. game against the Sugar Land Skeeters.
