Baseball Skeeters Top Patriots 6-1 In Day Game Of Double Header by Somerset Patriots July 20, 2016 Bridgewater, NJ – The Sugar Land Skeeters (7-6, 42-41) defeated the Somerset Patriots (6-6, 44-38) 6-1 at TD Bank Ballpark in the first game of a day-night double header on Wednesday afternoon. The Skeeters took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI double by Travis Scott. Sugar Land added to the lead with a two-run home run by Rene Tosoni (3) followed by a solo shot by Ricky Hague (11) in the top of the third inning for a 4-0 advantage. Two more runs crossed the plate for the Skeeters in the fourth inning on RBI base hits by Albert Cordero and Josh Prince for a 6-0 lead. Patriots reliever Mickey Storey came into the game in the fourth inning and pitched 2.2 scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Storey started the year in the rotation, but recently moved into a bullpen roll where he has pitched 3.2 scoreless innings over two games. “I know I can pitch out of the bullpen at a high level. That’s where I pitched in the big leagues,” said Storey. “It’s almost just a change of scenery to clear the slate after a tough start to the season for me.” Somerset’s lone run came in the bottom of the seventh inning on an RBI single by Aharon Eggleston for the 6-1 final. Chris Rearick (3-2) picked up the win with 0.1 innings pitched. Jeremy McBryde (6-5) took the loss, allowing three earned runs on four hits in 2.2 innings pitched. The 2016 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue at home tonight with a 7:05 pm game against the Sugar Land Skeeters.
