Somerset brings in Holmberg for 2019 season

After the Somerset Patriots lost pitcher Logan Darnell to an injury, manager Brett Jodie and company needed to bring in some depth.

The team announced the signing of left-handed pitcher David Holmberg who will hopefully make an immediate impact to the pitching rotation.

He accumulated 10 years of professional experience with the Cincinnati Reds, Colorado Rockies, Chicago White Sox and Arizona Diamondback where he made his first MLB appearance in 2013.

The 27-year-old recorded 66 strikeouts with the Diamondbacks that year in 119.2 innings with a career ERA of 5.49.

In 2018, Holmberg spent time in the Rockies triple-A affiliate the Albuquerque Isotopes where retired 65 batters in 107 innings of service. His last outing with the team came on August 29, 2018 where he retired five batters in 6.2 innings of work.
