Tea Time w/ Mel & Jay Tea Time with Mel and Jay Ep. 5: Review of The Fighter by Jackie Daly January 19, 2021 The Fighter Tea Time w/ Mel & Jay is a podcast where Melody and Jackie review anything and everything sports production related; whether that be sports reality TV, sports movies, sports documentaries, or a sports series! Mel and Jay are back with Episode 5 of Tea Time and they ARE TOGETHER IN PERSON! What a game changer! On today’s episode we review the Mark Wahlberg classic The Fighter. We had planned to review The Wrestler because it is LITERALLY number 1 on the Rotten Tomatoes list of best sports movies of all time (we were surprised to be honest). But, then we realized we had zero desire to watch the film, and have no real interest in wrestling, so we pivoted to another combat sport (boxing) and had a great time watching and chatting. This true story has every aspect of a great movie; love, family, triumph, failure, drama, and more! We definitely spilled some personal tea on this episode, so it is one not to miss! As always we give our champagne flute rating and introduce two “special guests” that give their take on the film. This episode we channeled retired NHL tough guy Chris “Knuckles” Nilan and Mark Wahlberg himself… where he gives his take as an adamant boxing fan in real life. Enjoy! Also, you can absolutely hear Mel’s Frenchie, Sir William, chewing his toy and doing his doggie shimmy. Apologies LOL. If you have missed any of our first 4 episodes, check them out here!
