On Sunday, May 14, 2017, the New York Yankees will retire the No. 2 jersey of long time shortstop and team captain, Derek Jeter. The number has become iconic throughout New York sports and all of baseball. Jeter will join the likes of Yankees legends Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Reggie Jackson, Don Mattingly, Bernie Williams, Joe Torre, Jorge Posada, Andy Pettitte, Mariano Rivera, and others with a monument in Yankee Stadium’s Monument Park.

No player will wear No. 2 in pinstripes ever again. There are however, other teams trotting out a No. 2 in their lineups this season. Let’s take a look around Major League Baseball and see who those players or coaches are.
