Bridgewater, NJ- Will Oliver (7-6) struck out a team season-high 13 batters to lead the Somerset Patriots (29-32, 71-60) over the York Revolution (33-28, 61-70) in a complete game 6-0 shutout at TD Bank Ballpark on Friday evening.

“I was mixing in and out of the zone and throwing breaking stuff early,” said Oliver. “I’ve been working hard on getting on the same page as [catcher Adam Donachie] and that has really been helping the past few outings.”

The Patriots took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on Alfredo Rodriguez’s first home run of the season.

Somerset extended the lead with two runs in the bottom of the third inning on RBI singles by Donachie and Justin Trapp for a 3-0 advantage.

Mark Minicozzi launched a solo home run (8) in the bottom of the fourth inning to start a three-run inning. Rodriguez drove in another run on a fielder’s choice and Trapp added an RBI base hit that made the score 6-0.

Jared Gaynor (1-2) suffered the loss, allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits in four innings.

The 2017 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Saturday night with a 7:05 pm game against the York Revolution. The game includes a Post Game Fireworks Show presented by Premiere Dance Hillsborough. For tickets, visit www.somersetpatriots.com.
