WrestleMania 33 (Wrestlezone)

Lets get ready to rumble! WrestleMania 33 is right around the corner (April 2nd), and the wrestling world is buzzing. Before Orlando becomes the latest area to host one of the greatest spectacles in sports entertainment, fans need to understand what matches are taking place. Of the 12 announced matches, we have seven one-on-one matches, one mixed tag team match, one triple threat tag team match, one fatal 4-way, one championship open and one Battle Royal. All of this is not even counting Triple H v. Seth Rollins and what could be one or two more matches.

With about seven hours of WrestleMania coverage, you are bound to see a few matches that could be classic’s. There will be some that, while could be entertaining to watch (Lesnar v. Goldberg, AJ Styles v. Shane McMahon), won’t be technically sound. For every bad match though, there are a few that may be able to make up for it. While last years WrestleMania wasn’t the best, the women’s match between Charlotte, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch was the best thing on that entire show.

What will take place this year? Here are the Top 3 matches that could potentially steal the show:

Triple H v. Seth Rollins – Unsanctioned match

While not official yet (contract signing this Monday), the fight we have been waiting an entire year for could be the one to tear the house down. It’s Pedigree v. Pedigree, master v. student. You could say that WWE has planned this since Seth turned on the SHIELD and joined The Authority in 2014. Everything was going so well, and then Triple H himself betrayed Seth Rollins.

The promo’s for this feud have been phenomenal, and the match is looking to be the same. Triple H is at his best when matches are unsanctioned (See: v. Shawn Michaels at SummerSlam 2002). This is the match that raises the most questions however. Will Seth actually be able to compete after suffering a knee injury a while back? He might not be 100%, but you can guarantee he will try to not miss another WrestleMania.

If Seth is not healthy, somehow adding Samoa Joe, Finn Balor and/or Sami Zayn into the equation could help. Everyone involved will look to entertain millions watching. If Seth is healthy, his style will mesh well with Triple H’s. Expect a throwback bout that could stand the test of time.

Neville v. Austin Aries – Cruiserweight Title match

The Cruiserweight’s were in trouble until Neville arrived. The matches he has had over the Cruiserweight Title (especially against Jack Gallagher and Rich Swann) remind me of the earlier days of the Cruiserweight Classic. Since turning heel, Neville has been on fire, laying out all of the competition. If there’s one man who can outshine him at WrestleMania 33, its Austin Aries.

Since being called up from NXT, Aries has had a chance to heal from an orbital bone fracture. The rumors of WWE having big plans for him have been proven to be true based off this push. He may not be a true face, but he is a clear fan favorite.

If given enough time (15 minutes is all they need), this match could make or break the future of the division. Here’s hoping for the former.

Kevin Owens v. Chris Jericho – U.S. Title match

The match that should have been the main event AND for the Universal Title. Ever since these two became best friends, the seeds were planted for a potential Feud of the Year candidate. Jericho should have learned from Sami Zayn: Don’t trust Kevin Owens.

Y2J helped Owens succeed throughout his Universal Title run until the bitter end. Owens assaulted Jericho during the Festival of Friendship, which could be considered the segment of the year, maybe of all time. Since then, Jericho became the reason Owens lost his title to Goldberg. These two have had some brutal fights over the past few weeks, and it all culminates at WrestleMania.

The G.O.A.T. versus The Prizefighter. The match may not be the main event, but knowing these two they will treat it like one. Look out for a possible Match of the Year candidate.

These three matches could save WrestleMania 33 from being an average event. With fan support and motivation, they could all exceed our expectations, which is all we want from a WrestleMania.
