Baseball Patriots Tally Second Straight Shutout Of Skeeters by Somerset Patriots August 10, 2015 Bridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots (18-12, 68-32) shutout the Sugar Land Skeeters (11-19, 47-53) 3-0 Monday evening at TD Bank Ballpark. It was Somerset’s second straight shutout victory and 16th shutout victory this season. In the bottom of the second inning designated hitter Mat Gamel socked a RBI single to give Somerset a 1-0 advantage. The Patriots added a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to expand their lead to 3-0. Right fielder Michael Burgess stroked a RBI single and catcher Adam Donachie recorded a RBI sacrifice fly. Will Oliver earned the win (1-0) in his Somerset debut has he dazzled. He tossed seven scoreless innings while only allowing one hit. Roy Merritt sustained the loss (5-4) hurling seven innings while giving up three runs. Jon Hunton notched the save (28) pitching the final inning. The 2015 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue tomorrow when the Somerset Patriots remain at TD Bank Ballpark for an 11:05 a.m. game against the Sugar Land Skeeters.
