Baseball Somerset Patriots Land LHP Nik Turley by Somerset Patriots July 27, 2016 Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots have announced the signing of left-handed pitcher Nik Turley Turley enters his first season with the Somerset patriots and first in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. The southpaw began the 2016 season in the Boston Red Sox organization with Double-A Portland, where he posted one win, two saves and 48 strikeouts over 35.2 innings of work. The La Canada, California native has three years of service at the Triple-A level, including two in the New York Yankees organization with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (2013-2014) and one in the San Francisco Giants organization with Sacramento (2015). Turley has won 12 games in Triple-A over 33 games (32 starts), including a seven-win campaign over 19 starts last year with Sacramento. The 2008 draft pick of the Yankees spent the first seven years of his professional career with the Pinstripes’ organization. His best season came in 2012 as a member of High-A Tampa. That year, Turley went 9-5 with a 2.89 ERA and 116 strikeouts over 112 innings pitched in 23 games (21 starts). After the season, Turley was named a Florida State League post-season All-Star. The 6’4” hurler owns a 47-42 record with a 3.61 ERA and 645 strikeouts over his nine-year professional career. The 2016 Somerset Patriots Season Presented By Ford is underway.
