Feature The UFC 205 “Live Like Legends” promo is here to get you even more excited for MMA in NYC by Daniel Yanofsky October 9, 2016 Last night at UFC 204, we witnessed an epic main event featuring Michael Bisping and Dan Henderson. With a loss, it was officially the end of “Hendo” in a UFC ring. Before that bout however, the UFC continued to hype up UFC 205 at Madison Square Garden on November 12th. The hype video featuring Ruell’s “Live Like Legends” debuted, and it was EPIC! httpss://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIYJjDN921M I had chills watching that. The video did a great job displaying key New York City areas and the history of Madison Square Garden. From boxing events to the Rangers winning the Stanley Cup, the Garden’s historic impact in the sports world was highlighted. A highlight clip not heard was the first WrestleMania, but that was most likely done on purpose. Dana White probably didn’t want Vince McMahon crashing on his parade. The video made sure to showcase all of the performing champions and their challengers. One specific person missing in the video was New York native Chris Weidman. He was one of the fighters who fought hard for MMA to be legalized in New York. Think of it like his passion project. I’m sure there are other promos around with him on it, but I feel like the company missed out on an opportunity to showcase “The All-American”. Other fighters not showcased who are New York/New Jersey natives were Katlyn Chookagian, Jim Miller, Rafael Natal, Tim Boetsch and Frankie Edgar. All in all, the video did what it was supposed to. The purpose was to treat this like a big deal, and the work by the production team paid off. The countdown is officially on! All roads (in this case, (train) tracks) lead to NYC!
