Baseball BlueClaws walk-off in 10th to even series with Greensboro by Scott Mahnken April 18, 2018 Under less than ideal conditions with game time temperature of 46 degrees with 16 MPH winds, the Lakewood BlueClaws and Grasshoppers faced off for game two of their three-game series. Colby Fitch’s walk-off single in the 10th drove home Nick Maton who started the inning on second base thanks to the new minor league extra innings rule. Lakewood clawed back from a 4-3 deficit in the seventh to tie the game in the eighth. The BlueClaws defense defused the Shorebirds offense, turning three double plays. The Shorebirds left 7 runners on base during the 4-3 loss. David Parkinson continued his strong start to the 2018 season, tossing five scoreless innings, to keep his spotless ERA at a very impressive 0.00. The only power surge of the game at First Energy Park, came off the bat of Shorebirds catcher, Gregori Rivero, who unloaded for his first homer of the season. A crowd of 1,529 saw the BlueClaws improve their record to 6-6, and the Shorebirds dropped to 6-5. Travis Neubeck (1-1) suffered the loss for Greensboro and Addison Russ pitched two shut-out innings to earn the win. Righty, Brandon Miller, takes the mound for the Grasshoppers for the final game, Ramon Russo takes the ball for Lakewood seeking his first win of the season, tonight at 6:35pm.
