Baseball Below Shines In 6-2 Win Over York by Somerset Patriots May 16, 2018 York, Pennsylvania – The Somerset Patriots (11-5) earned a wire-to-wire 6-2 win over the York Revolution (8-8) Tuesday night at PeoplesBank Park. Somerset jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a Justin Trapp RBI groundout after a 1:37 rain delay pushed back the start of the ballgame. They increased their lead to 3-0 in the second on Yovan Gonzalez’s RBI groundout and a throwing error from York shortstop Ryan Dent. Julio Borbon (2) added to the Patriots lead in the top of the fourth inning with a two-run home run to right field. After starting pitcher Duane Below kept the Revs off the scoreboard for the first six innings, York plated a pair of runs in the seventh on a Luis Cruz RBI triple and a Jose Cuevas sacrifice fly. Somerset responded the next half inning on a Borbon sacrifice fly to increase their lead to 6-2 and top off the scoring. “I thought he was doing well to throw strike one and work ahead,” said Somerset Patriots manager Brett Jodie. “He did a solid job working quickly and keeping those guys off balance. That is more of what we are used to seeing out of Below and it was really great to see that kind of a start out of him tonight.” Below (1-1) earned the win after he tossed six scoreless innings on three hits, no walks and four strikeouts. Mitch Atkins (0-2) took the loss, yielding five runs (four earned) on nine hits over four innings. The Patriots and the Revolution continue their three-game series on Wednesday with a single-admission doubleheader. Kyle Davies (0-0, 0.00 ERA) starts game one for Somerset against York righty Zac Grotz (0-0, 0.90 ERA). Game two features Patriots’ right-handed pitcher Cory Riordan (1-0, 3.57 ERA) against Revolution righty Dominic Severino (1-1, 2.81 ERA). First pitch for game one is set for 6:30 pm at PeoplesBank Park. The 2018 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford continues on the road until Tuesday, May 8th when the Patriots return to TD Bank Ballpark to take on the Road Warriors at 6:35 pm.
