(Photo by Gregory Shamus/Getty Images) New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles was hospitalized early Friday afternoon with a “undisclosed illness,” according to the Jets website. In a statement on the team’s social media page the Jets at the time, said, Bowles was in stable condition but it was uncertain if he would join the team in time for tomorrow’s game. Bowles has since been released from the hospital and cleared to coach the team in New England on Saturday afternoon. Bowles arrived at the Jets’ hotel Saturday morning. He will travel with the team to Gillette Stadium. The Jets said it is unclear, as of early Saturday morning, whether Bowles will coach from the sideline (as usual) or coaches’ booth. Bowles fell ill Friday afternoon and was taken to the nearest hospital where general manager Mike Maccagnan visited him. The GM has been in constant contact with Bowles since. In the case Bowles was unable to coach today’s game, the Jets would have had assistant head coach Mike Caldwell fill in against the Patriots. Caldwell, played linebacker for 11 seasons in the NFL, and he also serves as the Jets linebackers coach. Bowles is in his second season as head coach with the Jets. Bowles career as a NFL head coach started off good as he got the Jets to 10-6 with almost clinching a playoff spot in 2015. This year the Jets have struggled and are 4-10 which has raised many questions for Bowles future in New York. Bowles has embraced the opportunity and has showed a even-keeled approach so far. Bowles is not worried about his future with the team as he mentioned earlier this season.
