The New York Riveters of the National Women’s Hockey League have signed, Belle Mead, New Jersey native and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute graduate, Lauren Wash.

Wash, 22, played collegiately at RPI, from 2012 to 2016 where she put up 24 goals and 23 assists in 130 games. The forward began her hockey career with the New Jersey Rockets program.

Riveters general manager and head coach, Wiseman said, “Lauren is going to bring a high-energy, quick-tempo style to our team. We are confident that it will not take long for her to adapt to the speed of our league. She is a dynamic player and a great fit with the Riveters. We are pleased to be able to sign her for the stretch run.”

Wash added, “It is such an amazing opportunity to join the NWHL and play with many of the best players in the world. I feel so lucky to be part of the Riveters. Playing pro hockey in New Jersey is a dream come true, having been born and raised in the state.

She continued, “I am so happy to be reunited with Miye D’Oench, who I grew up playing hockey with on the New Jersey Rockets. It is a relief to be playing with her again, and not against her! The chance to play with Miye again is something I never thought possible, until the NWHL was born. I am also excited to be back with Alexa Gruschow, my old teammate at RPI for all four years.”

The Riveters will travel up to Buffalo on Saturday, where they will take on the Buffalo Beauts at Harborcenter. For ticket information click on www.nwhl.zone/tickets.
