Two Rutgers Soccer Players Going Pro

After today’s NWSL draft in Los Angeles, Rutgers soccer players Madison Tiernan and Erin Smith, are taking soccer to the next level.

Tiernan was drafted 24th overall by the Sky Blue FC of New Jersey, and Smith was drafted 33rd overall by the Houston Dash. They are now part of the only four alumna to be drafted into the NWSL in the history of Rutgers Women’s Soccer program; their former teammates Brianne Reed (18th overall – FC Kansas City) and Erica Skroski (23rd overall – Sky Blue FC) became the first two Rutgers Women’s Soccer players to be drafted last year into the NWSL.
