Drew McIntyre (WWE NXT Twitter) If you watched NXT TakeOver: Orlando last night, you might have noticed a familiar face in the front row. Drew Galloway, known as Drew McIntyre by WWE fans, seemed to have been acting as a casual fan. The jig appears to be up, as Drew has signed a multi-year deal with the WWE. He will be appearing predominantly on their NXT brand. ESPN was the first to report the news in an exclusive interview. The news proves once again why WrestleMania weekend is one of the best times to be a wrestling fan. It is unsure if Drew will be joining the main roster again anytime soon. During his interview, we was asked why he decided to come back to WWE, and be a part of the NXT brand. He stated: “Well, the answer’s pretty simple. I’ve won championships all across the world. I’ve helped build brands. So what’s the next logical thing for me to do? It’s to come here and win the NXT title.” This will be the first time in three years that Drew McIntyre will be back in a WWE ring. One of the hottest acts in professional wrestling at the time, Drew McIntyre was groomed to be a WWE Champion. Setbacks caused him to be a part of interesting angles that were not for him (3MB), before he was let go. Since then, he has become the star fans always dreamed he would be. As Drew Galloway (his real name), he has wrestled for Impact Wrestling, ICW, WCPW (where he is the current World Champion), Evolve and many other promotions. Everywhere he’s gone he’s left an impact. The timing could not have been better. Shinsuke Nakamura lost to Bobby Roode in a rematch for the NXT Title. This could have been Nakamura’s final NXT match before (possibly) being brought up to the main roster. As one gifted athlete leaves, another takes his place. More information should be provided as the next set of NXT tapings begin after WrestleMania. Until then, lets enjoy the fact that WWE has hit the jackpot yet again.
