Pro Wrestling Cody Rhodes has an official home in Ring of Honor The ROH World Champion has signed a lucrative deal with one of the fastest-rising companies in pro wrestling today by Daniel Yanofsky September 25, 2017 Over the past few months, Cody Rhodes has been busy. He has wrestled for various promotions, going from place to place without a true destination. He finally has his landing spot as he has signed an exclusive deal with Ring of Honor. The current ROH World Champion teased a big announcement before the post-Death Before Dishonor TV tapings in Las Vegas, Nevada. His agent later went on to make the exciting announcement, which has been shared on Ring of Honor’s website as a press release. Specific terms of the deal will not be released. It is however considered one of the most generous offers in ROH history. That could mean Cody has become the highest paid athlete the company has ever had. He will also be with the company for the next several years, seeing it grow one step at a time. After leaving WWE in 2016, Cody left his mark all over the world, from Impact Wrestling to Evolve. He’s been to Mexico, England and even Canada. It was known he never truly liked to stay in one place, but being a World Champion has it’s obligations. ROH was not going to risk letting him go, especially with all of the success he has had. In the press release, ROH GM Greg Gilleland discussed the process of signing Cody, stating: “When Cody first started competing in ROH, we knew we wanted him to be exclusive, but respected his wishes to try out the rest of the industry. Finalizing this deal is another big step in his career and a great step in the continued development of the Ring of Honor brand, delivering the best, real professional wrestling to a rapidly growing and the most passionate fanbase around the world.” While Cody won’t be able to work on televised shows with this domestic deal, he can compete in international shows if his schedule can work. Due to ROH’s working relationship with New Japan Pro Wrestling, Cody can easily work for both. He will also have time to film episodes for the CW TV show ‘Arrow’, where he had a recurring role for last season. This is just another step in the journey Cody mentioned in a previous interview with Double G Sports. Part one was winning a world title, and part two has now been fulfilled. Once destined to fail according to many, Cody has proven those doubters wrong in a major way. It’s a win for all parties and the entire world of professional wrestling.
