Hockey Connecticut Whale Acquire Paige Savage from Boston Pride by Chip Gianni November 8, 2017 The Connecticut Whale announced that they have received Northeastern University forward, Paige Savage from the Boston Pride for a conditional 2018 draft pick. Savage was the 15th overall selection of the Whale in the 2016 National Women’s Hockey League Draft, but signed with the Pride upon completing her education at Northeastern, this past June. She had been a scratch for Boston’s first two games of the 2017-2018 NWHL season. In 149 games with the Huskies, Savage put up 37 goals and 69 assists during her collegiate career. Whale coach, Ryan Equale said, “As Paige makes the adjustment from college to the NWHL, we will look for Paige to bring her scoring touch, intensity and work ethic to our team.” He continued, “We have a great group of players on the Whale and an even better group of people, and we expect Paige to fit right in to an already strong and healthy locker room and team culture.” Prior to her time at Northeastern, she represented the United States at the Under-18 World Championships in the Czech Republic. She also captained the North American Hockey Academy Under-19 Team to a 2011-2012 Junior Women’s Hockey League title, as the leading scorer as well. Savage also serves on the coaching staff of the women’s ice hockey team at Nichols College, in Dudley, Massachusetts. Twitter Game of Week vs Riveters The Whale will host the Metropolitan Riveters on Saturday November 11 at 7:00 PM at Terry Conners Ice Rink in Stamford, Connecticut. The game will also be available to stream as part of the NWHL Twitter Game of the Week. Fans can access the stream at www.NWHL.twitter.com or via @nwhl.
