Dunkin’ Donuts Park Repeats as Double-A Ballpark of the Year

Dunkin’ Donuts Park, home of the Hartford Yard Goats, has been named Ballpark Digest’s 2018 Double-A Ballpark of the Year for the second straight season. The relatively new stadium was ready in time for Opening Day of last season, and has been filled to the brim of its 6,121 capacity ever since.

The Yard Goats, of the Eastern League, sold out 41 of their home games last year and already have 20 of such games this season. They currently lead the entire league in total attendance, with 216,730 fans coming out to see a game.

This is the first time ever that a Minor League stadium has repeated annually as the best park, and the first time since 2016 that at any level a ballpark has taken home the honors two years in a row (PNC Park of the Pittsburgh Pirates).

The club’s General Manager Mike Abramsomn spoke on the award: “Yard Goats fans continue to demonstrate a vibrant passion for Dunkin’ Donuts Park. It’s truly an honor to be named Best Double-A Ballpark for the second year in a row, and to win in back-to-back years as only a Major League franchise has before.”

Every single weekend game over the past 4 weeks has sold out (meaning Friday through Sunday matchups), and 18 of their last 25 home series have done the same. Hartford is currently in 4th place in the Eastern League, with a 34-36 overall record.

At home the team is 21-18, something that clearly has to do with the awesome environment at Dunkin’ Donuts Park. The Yard Goats return home on June 25th, where they take on the Richmond Flying Squirrels for 4 games.
